As the sun shines brightly and temperatures soar, now is the perfect time to revamp your skincare routine to ensure your skin stays healthy and radiant. The summer season can bring challenges, meaning your skin might need a little extra care and attention. Here is The Jojoba Company's guide for nurturing your skin during the sun-soaked months.

Sunscreen is your best friend

During the summer, shielding your skin from harmful UV rays is a non-negotiable. Our Multi Defence Moisturiser SPF15 is a great moisturiser for everyday, incidental sun exposure, like if you’re only sometimes outdoors or work next to a window in an office. However, if you're spending long periods of time in the sun, it's recommended to wear an SPF of at least 30+ and reapply throughout the day, every 2 hours.

Hydration is key

Your skin needs ample hydration during summer. A good tip is to treat your skin to some TLC once a week with soothing face masks. Our Pure Jojoba Gel Mask is a great hydrating mask that can be left on overnight. Containing our pure Australian Jojoba, this gel-textured mask is lightweight, unscented and incredibly soothing on sunkissed skin. Pop it in the fridge before applying for a lovely cooling sensation!

Refresh skin with a mist

The lightweight nature of facial mists makes them perfect for delivering a burst of hydration to your skin when needed and can help calm irritated or sun-exposed skin. Our Jojoba Water Toning Mist is infused with botanical extracts including Jojoba Milk and Vitamin C-rich Desert Lime, and is clinically proven to increase the hydration in your skin by 25%*

Don’t neglect your scalp

Taking care of your hair during summer is crucial for maintaining its health, shine, and strength. If you often spend time swimming in pools or the ocean, your hair will be exposed to chlorine and saltwater, which can strip away moisture and leave it feeling brittle. To prevent major damage, try applying our pure Australian Jojoba to your hair before swimming to protect your strands and when washing your hair after, add a few drops of Jojoba to your conditioner to give your hair the extra nourishment it needs.

After-sun care

In case of sunburn, be sure to treat your skin carefully. A summer skin tip we recommend is to mix aloe vera with our pure Australian Jojoba to create a doubly nourishing gel that will soothe skin, alleviate discomfort and give your dry skin the moisturisation it needs. It's best to avoid further sun exposure until your skin is healed.

Try out water-based skincare

Water-based moisturisers are lighter in texture compared to oil-based moisturisers, making them ideal for summer. They provide hydration, without leaving a heavy or greasy feeling on the skin, which is especially appreciated as temperatures rise. Our Jojoba Water Gel Cream is a hydrating gel cream with Niacinamide, Lemon Myrtle and Seaweed that provides long-lasting, soothing moisture. It will not only keep your skin feeling refreshed, but is also clinically proven to reduce sebum (oil) production in the skin by up to 34% in 28 days** helping those prone to oily skin reduce the appearance of oiliness and shine.

**Study based on 31 Millennials, multi-ethnic origin men and women volunteers (37% Caucasian, 37% Asian, 26% African-American) using OiLESS’city™

Remember, consistency is key when it comes to skincare. Adapting the above tips into your daily routine will not only protect your skin during the summer but also contribute to long-term skin health.
